Cook Park Library Construction

Let's get it started!

Over 30 contractors crowded the Meeting Room last Wednesday for the pre-bid meeting. The bids will be opened on April 16, so stay tuned to find out who will be the lowest bidder! The picture at the top is the newest site plan for the Cook Park Library.

In the meantime, let's talk about moving. We are in the process of negotiating with the Village and property owners for a temporary facility. Look forward to a summer "on the go" and a move to our new, temporary facility!

Our timetable calls for us to close down the Cook Park Library towards the end of June and open at the new locations in July. This is a very tentative timetable. We still need to negotiate the leases and some build out will be required at the 116 N. Milwaukee property. Because of these factors, we can not yet set a final date. Of course, we will keep you posted!

Once construction at Cook starts, we will be extend hours at Evergreen. Staff will be assigned to work at a location based on the library's needs. There are no plans to lay off staff or to reduce work hours. We will ask that all staff members be flexible and willing to adjust their schedules and normal work routines.

During the process, stay calm! Repeat to yourself, it will all be worth it!
